Day 1: Marrakech
On arrival at Marrakech Menara Airport you will be met by our personnel and taken to your accommodation to check-in. After a short rest you will be taken on a tour of the city, including a visit to the Jardins de Majorelle and the world-famous Jemaa el Fna square.
Day 2: Marrakech – Asni Ouirgane -Taroudant
Leaving Marrakech we will head towards Taroudant travelling along the Valley of the Oued N’Fis, the cradle of the Almohades (the North African Berber empire that dominated Muslim Spain in the last decades of the 12th century). Then the road will climb for 15 km up to Tizi ‘n-Tichka, at 2600 metres above sea level.
There is a breathtaking view over the desert and a stair-like slope towards Taroudant, a beautiful fortified town. Known as Little Marrakech, Taroudant is surrounded by 7.5km of ramparts built in the 16th and 17th centuries. We will take a tour of the medina (old town). Dinner and overnight stay in your hotel.
Day 3: Taroudant – Tafraoute
After a leisurely breakfast in your hotel we will cross a region of olive and argan trees to reach the Anti Atlas. This is the most significant area for the mining of copper which has traded for centuries with the Saharan caravans. En route you will see a succession of mineral and desert landscapes with a spectacular display of almond trees in full bloom in February – which coincides with the Almond Tree Festival.
Day 4: Tafraoute – Sidi Ifni – Legzira Beach
We will cross the peak of Tizi Kerdous (1100 metres) and make a stop to see the extraordinary views of the ocean and the Anti Atlas. We will descend to Guelmin a small town with a thriving camel market;. From Guelmin we will follow the coastal road until we arrive at Sidi Ifni where you will have free time to visit the historical centre or enjoy a walk along the beautiful Legzira beach with its famous rock arch. Dinner and overnight stay in Legzira.
Day 5: Legzira Beach – Tiznit – Agadir – Essaouira
Following the road, we will travel through a vast forest and arrive at Tiznit the city famous for its silver jewellery, daggers and sabres. We will make a stop in the medina.
Our next stop will be in Agadir on the Atlantic coast. Here we will drive up to the hilltop Kasbah from where there are spectacular views of the port, the marina and Agadir town, before descending to the seafront where you can take a stroll along the beach or even a quick dip in the sea.
In the afternoon we will arrive in Essaouira and make a tour of the ramparts and fortifications protecting the city. Dinner and overnight stay in your hotel.
Day 6: Explore Essaouira, previously known as Mogador
You will have a relaxing free day for shopping or discovering Essaouira on foot; immerse yourself in the alleys and backstreets of the medina or stroll around the fortified walls and the port. Spend time on the long, sandy beach or hunt for bargains around the colourful souk. Dinner and overnight stay in your hotel.
Day 7: Essaouira – Marrakech
In the morning, we will start our leisurely return to Marrakech passing through several towns and villages. We will cross the flat plain of El Haouz; an amazing area where it is common to see nesting cranes and green argan trees which goats climb to reach the juicy leaves. We will arrive in the Red City in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay in your hotel.
Day 8: Marrakech & Airport
After breakfast in your hotel we will either transfer you directly to the airport for your return flight or, if time permits, make a daytime visit to Jemaa al Fna and the Saadian Tombs.
